Recently added to the German-engineered Premium petrol rotary lawn mower range in response to popular demand, the 473 VS-B is a high quality machine featuring a Briggs & Stratton engine with EXi technology, variable speed drive, a new 46cm MaxAirflow steel cutter deck and 4-in-1 functionality,

The 150cc four-stroke overhead valve engine is air-cooled with ReadyStart feature which enables easy ignition without the need to prime. The advanced engineering on the Briggs & Stratton 625EXi engine offers considerably reduced oil consumption, eradicating the need for regular oil changes; simply check the oil levels and top up every now and again.

With user comfort a key aspect in the design process of the 473 VS-B, the VARIOspeed feature allows the speed of drive to be set to suit the operator's walking pace and the mowing conditions on the day. The ergonomic controls are integrated in the cockpit-style handlebar, so the bowden cables are laid protected in the cladding and are therefore well protected against bending or entwining in shrubs. High rear wheels allow smooth runnng and manoevrability over rough terrain.

The AL-KO Premum 473 VS-B is equipped with a deep MaxAirflow steel deck which maximises the mower's performance in each of the four mowing modes. The choice of collecting, mulching, rear discharging or side discharging the grass clippings is available in one multi-functional machine. In collection mode, the large 70 litre EasyClick grass box is efficiently filled from back to front to maximum capacity, with a level indicator. When it is time to empty, the EasyClick engagement with guide rail means no more backaches or trapped fingers, so hooking the compact grass catcher in and out could not be easier.

The offset design of the mower means that it can also be used for precise edge mowing along the side of walls without problems - for a perfect result right up to the edge, without any major trimming afterwards.

The integrated front carry handle is ideal when it comes to transporting the lawn mower, storing it away or lifting it over steps or obstacles in the garden. AL-KO's clever service and storage position allows the mower to be stood on end so the underside of the deck can be accessed for cleaning and maintenance, and storage space is kept to a minimum.

With a generous 46cm (18") cutting width and centrally adjustable, seven stage cutting height, the AL-KO Premium 473 VS-B variable speed lawn mower is a superb all-round choice for lawns up to 1,400 square metres. The machine is backed by a five year manufacturer's warranty and comes fully assembled in the box.

This is because the extra tall steel plate deck and extra large discharge channel increase the airflow by 42 per cent. As a result, the grass clippings are not transported at a low level into the grass catcher as in the case of most standard lawnmowers, but are instead thrown backwards in a high arc and remain at the back. This means the grass catcher is effectively filled from the back, without the discharge channel becoming blocked. Another bonus: The removable service flap for convenient mower maintenance. Full Catcher, Fewer Interruptions MaxAirflow technology means that the lawn clippings are thrown to the back of the grass catcher, as a result of which it is filled to the top and does not have to be emptied so often. No Green Fingers MaxAirflow technology means that it is even possible to mow long, damp grass without leaving clumps behind on the ground or blocking the discharge channel. This means your hands stay cleaner.
