Petrol Chipper Shredders

Domestic garden waste disposal just got a whole lot easier with the PDS65 petrol chipper shredder from The Handy.

Powered by a powerful 208cc Briggs & Stratton XRD950 OHV engine with parallel twin v-belt transmission, this machine is designed for shredding and chipping all types of newly cut tree branches up to 60mm in diameter. Featuring a single input hopper, everything can be fed down the same chute. With self feed design, the cutting system consists of two drum-mounted chipping blades.

Transportation is easy thanks to the handlebar and transport wheels. Manoeuvrability is aided by the 25cm pneumatic wheels. The emergency switch offers improved safety.

Powered by a beefy 6.5hp Briggs & Stratton OHV IC four-stroke engine, smooth power is transferred using a belt system to protect the crankshaft. The drive system is run by a V-belt rather than a direct drive system. This design is more tolerant to impact and unnecessary overload on the drive system and engine.

The Masport chipper shredder operates in two ways, reducing the waste material to at least 20 per cent of its original volume:-

• Wood chipping - branches up to 65mm in diameter can be fed through the chipper side chute, creating a fine mulch which is perfect for composting.
• Shredding - nine horizontally-arranged flail blades reduce garden foliage to a fine mulch

Weighing 70kg and constructed around a sturdy steel frame, the Masport 6.5XL features a strong plastic hopper and two pneumatic transport wheels.

The large self-feeding hopper safely lets branches up to 70mm pass through the machine with ease through the single lever blade engatement. The powerful 6.5hp Briggs & Stratton XR950 engine, combined with the three-blade special tool-steel cutting blades, quickly turns branches into easy-to-manage mulch. Three fan blades on the flywheel produce powerful airflow that effortlessly discharges the mulch.

The 1270mm high discharge outlet allows for the mulched material to be guided directly into a trailer, wheelie bin or garden bed.

Thanks to its well-balanced design, conveniently positioned handle on the chute and large, heavy-duty 295mm wheels, the Masport MC900 wood chipper is highly manoeuvrable between work sites. Safety is ensured by the lockout mechanism which safely immobilises the cutting disk while changing the blades.

The Hansa C16C is a semi-commercial petrol wood chipper ideal for dealing with large scale organic waste. The machine's compact design means it can be easily manoeuvred and operated in areas with restricted access, and it is narrow enough to fit through a standard gateway.

This disc-type chipper is of solid construction with a chipping capacity of 110mm diameter branches, depending on the type of wood. The C16C features a large inlet chute to accommodate big bundles of prunings. It has a very efficient self-feeding action thanks to the design of the rotor and blade set-up. The inertia generated by the large rotor disc creates the momentum to efficiently cut and discharge the mulch up to 8 metres away (or close to the operating area by adjusting the deflector on the outlet chute). The 1.5 metre discharge height of the C16C makes this model ideal for discharging onto a trailer or truck, eliminating the need for any double handling of mulch.

Pivoting open the outlet chute allows full access to the inside of the machine for sharpening and changing the blades. As with all of the larger Hansa chippers, adjustable blades eliminate the need to adjust the anvil after sharpening, giving the ability to adjust each blade individually to the anvil for optimal clearance. The blades will last anywhere up to 30 hours use before requiring sharpening, depending on the type of material being mulched.
