The AL-KO 36V 42.2 Li Comfort is a hand-propelled 36V cordless lawn mower equipped with a sturdy 42cm steel cutter deck.

Thanks to the latest lithium-ion battery technology, the 36V 42.2 Li battery-powered lawn mower combines the advantages of a classic petrol machine with the quiet and exhaust-free operation of an electric device - all cable free. After a short 1½ hour charge time, the mower is simple to start with a plug-in key.

The battery compartment houses up to two batteries with 'Balanced Discharging System' for maximum run time, careful discharging of the batteries and long service life. The LED display makes it clear to see when it needs to be charged. This lawn mower kit is supplied with two 4Ah batteries and charger; the 42.2 Li model is also available to purchase with one 4Ah battery and charger (AK119977).

A 2-in-1 cut and collect mower, the cutting height can be adjusted centrally through seven stages between 30 to 75mm. Grass clippings are collected in a 65 litre grass bag with an integrated fill-level indicator.

The AL-KO 36V platform revolves around a powerful 36V (max 40V) powerpack and comprises a selection of lawn mowers, a lawn scarifier and an array of different hand tools including multi tools so you have everything you need for your garden. The lawn mower kits come with either one or two batteries and charger which means that you can purchase the hand tools more cost-effectively without a battery. If the battery is fully charged, it can work for up to 120 minutes depending on the device. Additional 2.5Ah, 4Ah, 5Ah and 8Ah batteries are available to purchase for increased run times.

A single charge of the 4.0Ah battery supplied will cut up to 480 square metres of lawn. Depending on the grass conditions, the cutting height can be adjusted via a single lever through seven stages from 20mm up to 80mm. The handle is also adjustable in three positions to suit the operator.

This is a superb all-rounder that’s light, manoeuvrable and small enough to fit through garden gates and take care of a small to medium sward, while the variable self-propelled drive system makes light work of larger lawns and inclines, and would be suitable for an area up to 300 sq m. This is helped with the 42cm cutting width and a blade that mulches and sends the rest of the clippings into a huge 55L grass collector, so that we didn’t have to keep stopping to empty it. Without fail, we were always left with a precise finish and a real professional cut.

Adjustable handles and large wheels, with good tread, added to the overall usability. The vertical storage meant that the mower’s footprint was minimal. We also found the Ego battery system one of the best out there in terms of run time from a single charge (we got 35 minutes from our five amp hours (AH) battery. This model comes with a 2.5AH battery and charger as standard, but you can upgrade as Ego batteries are interchangeable. The poly deck keeps the weight down, so it never feels like you’re fighting with it. The five-year warranty on the mower and two-year warranty on the battery adds to the value of the package.
