The GreenWorks G40LM41 lawn mower employs advanced motor technology and the very latest in lithium-ion battery technology to deliver power and performance comparable to petrol.

A cordless mower offering a hassle-free alternative to a petrol lawn mower on small to medium size gardens, instant power is provided at the push of a button, with no fuelling up or cord to pull.

The G-MAX 40V 2Ah lithium-ion battery (not included) offers low-noise, low running costs and low maintenance, with no unpleasant fumes to breathe in and no harmful emissions for the environment. You can mow around 250 square metres of lawn on a single charge of the 2Ah battery.

The GreenWorks G40LM41 features a 41cm (16") durable polypropylene cutting deck that is rust-resistant. With this push-propelled mower you have the choice of two mowing options; either collecting the grass clippings into the large 55 litre fabric grass catcher with bag-full indicator; or mulching them by inserting the special plug provided. Single lever six-position height adjustment offers cutting height range from 25mm to 80mm.

When the mowing is done, storage is compact thanks to the mower's fold-down handles and collapsible grass catcher.

Employing two 24V lithium-ion batteries (not supplied with bare tool) in parallel to deliver 48V of running power, this versatile GreenWorks 41cm cordless lawn mower has 3-in-1 functionality.

Our testers thought this was a well-thought out lawnmower with plenty of great features. It’s simple to assemble and fold away for easy storage. The mower cuts and manoeuvres well and is a pleasure to use. There are seven cutting heights and it has collect, mulch and rear discharge features. Although it charges quickly in 30 minutes, it has a run time of just 20 minutes. A generous five-year warranty is included and we awarded this a BBC Gardeners' World Magazine Best Buy in 2020 for extra features.

This is a superb all-rounder that’s light, manoeuvrable and small enough to fit through garden gates and take care of a small to medium sward, while the variable self-propelled drive system makes light work of larger lawns and inclines, and would be suitable for an area up to 300 sq m. This is helped with the 42cm cutting width and a blade that mulches and sends the rest of the clippings into a huge 55L grass collector, so that we didn’t have to keep stopping to empty it. Without fail, we were always left with a precise finish and a real professional cut.

Adjustable handles and large wheels, with good tread, added to the overall usability. The vertical storage meant that the mower’s footprint was minimal. We also found the Ego battery system one of the best out there in terms of run time from a single charge (we got 35 minutes from our five amp hours (AH) battery. This model comes with a 2.5AH battery and charger as standard, but you can upgrade as Ego batteries are interchangeable. The poly deck keeps the weight down, so it never feels like you’re fighting with it. The five-year warranty on the mower and two-year warranty on the battery adds to the value of the package.
